  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brewed coffee or hot water
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup Nutella
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 14 hazelnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg and add milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and brewed coffee or hot water.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed; avoid overmixing.
  5. Fill each cupcake liner two-thirds full with batter and bake for 18 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting with prepared Nutella Buttercream.
