  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 cups Milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 4 Cinnamon sticks (or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon)
  • 4 Vanilla beans (split and scraped) or 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 Star anises (optional)
  • 4 teaspoons Loose-leaf black tea or 4 black tea bags (optional)
  • Honey or other sweetener of choice

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a small pot.
  2. Add cinnamon sticks and vanilla beans (or extract and ground cinnamon) to the pot, turn off heat, cover, and steep for about 10 minutes.
  3. If using black tea, add it now, brewing for an additional 3–5 minutes.
  4. Heat milk in a separate pot until warm but not boiling.
  5. Strain the infusion into the warm milk.
  6. Stir in honey or sweetener.
  7. Serve hot or over ice.
